This webinar was recorded live on Wed., April 20, 2022. According to the International Scientific Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISAPP), a synbiotic is “a mixture comprising live microorganisms and substrate(s) selectively utilized by host microorganisms that confers a health benefit on the host”. And, the term ‘synbiotic’ is emerging in the marketplace to represent a purposeful, synergistic combination of at least one prebiotic with at least one probiotic in a formulation providing a health or performance benefit to the microbiota. Considering the sheer volume of new science and how complex the workings of the microbiota are, charting this science and effectively and transparently communicating true synbiotics to stakeholders including consumers is certain be a challenge.
